Hey, it me!

There are actually two more paintings of Truth in the well painted by Gerome; one painted before all the others:

image
Truth at the Bottom of a Well, 1895

And one in between the two that have been already shared:

Truth is at the Bottom of the Well, 1895

Dude wasn’t exactly the most original when it came to his naming conventions, but he sure did paint a bad bitch.

Gérôme pitching one of his painting ideas to his friend: so you see…. there’s this….

His friend: please don’t say well

Gérôme: there’s this well

Bisexuals were essentially accused of murdering women via HIV in the 80s, either because we were intentionally duplicitous or because we were out of control maniacs who couldn’t resist unsafe sex. For many people of that generation, this was their first time hearing about bisexuals. Now folks want to pretend that didn’t influence today’s perception of bisexuality.

I think bi is dead. More pan. I love all.

I rest my case.

I read that capsaicin makes your mouth feel like it's burning because it increases your nerve sensitivity to heat, and menthol works by doing the same thing to cold

So if I eat a habanero pepper and then chew a bunch of breath mints they'll each other out and I'll be fine

random-ferret

Hey guess what hellfire tastes like

nudibranchparty

Fun fact! The nerve endings for "ouch too hot" and "ouch too cold" are different! Which means that they can both be activated at once, without cancelling out. Rip OP.

thinking abt how forster said that maurice would probably remain in manuscript form.... but it was published after he died.... and a film adaptation was made in the height of the aids epidemic.... and gave hope to queer people everywhere.... and the book's been translated in so many different languages.... and the film won awards for music and acting and directing.... and was nominated for an oscar.... and james wilby directed the stage adaptation..... a work of art written in 1913 about homosexuality and the importance of self-acceptance.... carefully typed up and transported to isherwood for publication 58 years later.... and the film came out in '87 which in itself was nearly 34 years ago.... and maurice as a story means so much to people and will for a long time... how forster wasn't very optimistic abt the book being published.... but for so many people it's their favourite work of his and favourite work in general too.... and both the book and film had and has so much impact.... I need to lie down

As much as I mildly despair about the functionality of Tumblr, I’m forever grateful we don’t have the creative interface of other social media platforms.

I keep seeing youtubers talking about how the new algorithm on their creative dash is so detrimental to their mental health, both in terms of how they feel about themselves as creators and the content they make—dreading to find out their performance rating, regardless of whether they enjoyed it or not. And it’s the same across multiple other platforms, TickTock, Facebook, Instagram. Fuck, I’ve even seen people with business accounts complaining on Twitter.

And then there’s Tumblr. Where sometimes you can’t find your own posts even though you know you tagged it, time stamps are hidden in the ellipses at the top right hand corner of the post, your bread recipe keeps getting flagged as porn, too much punctuation causes asks not to send, and checking your activity feed causes the app to crash. You want to know your trending numbers? You want to know what’s performing well? Fuck you, guess.

18k notes, and 99.999% of them are people finding out we have time stamps.
